Jose Mourinho chopped

You can all say you saw it coming, but none could have spoke of the exact hour when Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was going to be sacked following a calamitous run of defeats.

Yes, the second half to 2015 has turned to hell for Mourinho after ‘ The Special One’ was axed from the defending Premier League champions over an evident rift with his players.

After weeks of bad results, it seemed the Blues’ last defeat against Leicester was the nail in the coffin for the Portuguese. The fact that the club is just one point off the relegation zone is quite astonishing. What’s even more astounding is that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich – renowned for chopping Blues’ bosses – left it so late.

The club has admitted a rift with players was a catalyst for Mourinho’s Stamford Bridge exit. It has been a disastrous and painful beginning of a season for the club’s fans to watch. The rumours about disharmony in the squad were evident on and off the pitch, with Diego Costa and Mourinho’s half-time bust-up against Maccabi Tel Aviv, an example.

Although Mourinho is their most successful ever manager, Chelsea finally lost patience with him. Chelsea’s technical director Michael Emenalo admitted what everyone knows – that the club is “in trouble”.

He told Chelsea TV of a “palpable discord between the manager and players”. The sacking, which came hours after a shaven-headed Mourinho took training, brought to an end to the 52-year-old’s second spell with the Blues – seven months after he won the league.

The club face Sunderland at home tomorrow and Assistant manager Steve Holland could take charge. Rumour has it that Guus Hiddink could be named as interim boss next week. The 69-year-old Dutch is familiar with the club, having taken over as interim manager at the Bridge in 2009.

So, where next for Mourinho? Well, TNT will update you as we trace the mammoth of a football personality that is Jose Mourinho.
